The bridge
Eight lanes with a SENTRI lane, a FAST lane and sidewalks both sides, opened 1999, county-owned, connecting I-69E/US 77 with Mexico's Federal 101/180 toward the coast highways.

Is Veterans Bridge open 24 hours?
No — 6 a.m. to midnight for cars and pedestrians. For the small hours, Gateway and B&M downtown run around the clock. Cargo keeps its own, shorter schedule — a 9 p.m. weekday close and brief weekend windows — so a freight run needs the commercial hours, not the passenger ones.
Which Brownsville bridge should trucks use?
Veterans takes scheduled cargo — General and FAST — Monday to Saturday with a short Sunday window; oversize, overweight and transmigrante movements belong at Los Indios, and Gateway and B&M carry no trucks at all.
Does Veterans have SENTRI and FAST?
Yes, both — a SENTRI car wait and a FAST truck wait, each reported separately alongside General. The bridge carries dedicated SENTRI and FAST lanes. The county's AVI account is payment only and grants neither.
