“Thousand Islands Bridge” names a system rather than one span. The South Channel suspension bridge links Collins Landing, New York, with Wellesley Island; the road-level International spans connect Wellesley Island with Hill Island, Ontario; and the North Channel suspension bridge runs from Hill Island to the Ontario mainland at Ivy Lea.
A vehicle under 10,000 lb (4,536 kg) pays $4.00 USD or $5.50 CAD for its first two axles in either direction. E-ZPass, a TIBA discount sticker or hang tag, cash and major credit cards are accepted in every lane. Cash must be entirely U.S. or entirely Canadian currency; currencies cannot be mixed.
Yes. Pedestrians and unmotored bicycles cross free on the bridge sidewalks, but TIBA requires cyclists to dismount and walk their bicycles. Riding a bicycle on the bridges is prohibited, so anyone cycling the route must be prepared to walk across the bridge system rather than ride it.
Yes. CBP lists the Alexandria Bay crossing as open 24 hours a day. That published schedule does not rule out a same-day closure or operational restriction, so check the live agency boards before leaving, particularly if your trip depends on a dedicated NEXUS lane that keeps shorter hours into Canada.
Tolls are collected northbound at Collins Landing and southbound at Ivy Lea, not partway across the bridge system. TIBA reviews its Canadian-dollar rate every January and July; its rules document publishes the U.S.-dollar schedule, while its separate toll page carries the Canadian rate.
Frequent U.S.-side users can buy a 72-Trip commutation tag for $48.00. It covers vehicles under 10,000 lb (4,536 kg) and scheduled school buses, and remains valid for two years.
