Under construction
West Douglas is a dedicated commercial port under construction about 4.5 miles west of the Raul Hector Castro crossing, at Arizona 80 and North James Ranch Road. It is not open — an 80-acre, $328 million project that GSA began building in August 2025, with substantial completion anticipated in May 2029. A projected completion is not an opening date.
What’s planned
The design is commercial-only: four northbound and two southbound commercial inspection booths, 36 covered secondary truck bays, space for hazardous-material processing, and capacity for oversized mining equipment. When it opens, CBP will permanently move commercial inspection here from the Castro crossing. Until then, Douglas’s current port handles trucks, cars and pedestrians.
