About this crossing
The Presidio rail bridge — TxDOT's South Orient line, operated by Texas Pacífico toward a Ferromex connection — burned in February 2008 and has been rebuilt, but cross-border service is not confirmed operational: current reporting says a CBP rail-inspection facility must still be completed before trains can resume. A reported summer-2026 reopening projection has expired without a service-opening notice. It is freight-only in any case — travellers use the Presidio road bridge.
Status: TxDOT Rail 512-416-2376, or Texas Pacífico 325-942-8164.
Quick answers
Is the Presidio rail bridge open?
Not confirmed. The structure is rebuilt, but no responsible agency or operator has announced resumed cross-border service, and a projected summer-2026 reopening passed without one. It carries no passengers either way — the road bridge is the traveller crossing.
