About this crossing
Calexico East is the Imperial Valley’s cargo crossing and the second Calexico road crossing, on SR-7 east of downtown. It serves cars, pedestrians and commercial trucks from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. After 10 p.m., Calexico West downtown stays open around the clock for cars and pedestrians — but takes no trucks.
Quick answers
What hours is Calexico East open?
6 a.m. to 10 p.m. for cars, pedestrians and trucks. Overnight, Calexico West handles cars and pedestrians 24 hours — but no cargo. Individual SENTRI, Ready and FAST lanes keep their own staffing within the schedule, so check the live lane state above.
Can trucks cross at Calexico East?
Yes — this is the Calexico road cargo port, reporting General and FAST commercial waits. FAST is limited to enrolled commercial drivers in designated lanes. Shipment-specific questions go to the port’s official contact page rather than this site.
Can I book a border appointment at Calexico East?
No. The appointment and southbound-information system Caltrans has described for this crossing is at the feasibility stage — no appointment control or southbound live wait exists yet, there or on this site.
SENTRI, Ready Lane and FAST
CBP reports General, SENTRI and Ready car waits and a General pedestrian wait. Trucks get General and FAST readings; FAST is for enrolled commercial drivers in designated lanes only.
The port
Opened in 1996 at 1699 East Carr Road, reached by SR-7 from I-8 and SR-98; the Mexican facility is Aduana Sede Mexicali II on Boulevard Abelardo L. Rodríguez. Caltrans has studied an appointment-and-southbound-information system for this crossing, but it is a feasibility effort — nothing is operating.
Busy times
In 2025 the port handled about 2.7 million US-bound personal vehicles, 581,000 pedestrians and 447,000 trucks (port-level BTS counts). January led for cars; trucks peaked in March.
