International Avenue is the bypass-style bridge southwest of the two downtowns and takes both passenger and commercial vehicles; Ferry Point runs directly between the downtowns and does not process trucks. Pedestrians and cyclists should use Ferry Point because CBP publishes no pedestrian lane at International Avenue.
CBP’s Border Wait Times table lists Calais International Avenue as open 24 hours a day. It is a normal published schedule, not a promise against a temporary operational closure or travel restriction. Check the current official boards before you set out.
Do not rely on the weekday schedule in CBP’s 2010 announcement. CBSA’s current directory and CBP’s current board show no active dedicated NEXUS service. Call the port before choosing this bridge specifically for NEXUS.
International Avenue is where all commercial traffic was moved when the newer inspection facility opened. CBSA’s St. Stephen 3rd Bridge record carries a commercial-hours field and a rail-reporting service; the Ferry Point record carries neither.
Calais and St. Stephen also share a third, smaller crossing at Milltown, upstream of the two bridges tracked here. CBP lists port 011502 with 8:00 am–4:00 pm hours and publishes a U.S.-bound reading, but CBSA publishes no matching Canada-bound record, so this site cannot show it in both directions.
