Compare the crossings
The Calexico–Mexicali corridor links Calexico, California with Mexicali, Baja California, with two road crossings a few miles apart: Calexico West downtown, open 24 hours for cars and pedestrians, and Calexico East on the SR-7 truck route, open 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. for cars, pedestrians and all of the corridor’s commercial cargo. A freight rail line also crosses beside the West port, with no traveller access.
