About this crossing
Calexico East is the Imperial Valley’s cargo crossing and the second Calexico road crossing, on SR-7 east of downtown. It serves cars, pedestrians and commercial trucks from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. After 10 p.m., Calexico West downtown stays open around the clock for cars and pedestrians — but takes no trucks.

The port
Opened in 1996 at 1699 East Carr Road, reached by SR-7 from I-8 and SR-98; the Mexican facility is Aduana Sede Mexicali II on Boulevard Abelardo L. Rodríguez. Caltrans has studied an appointment-and-southbound-information system for this crossing, but it is a feasibility effort — nothing is operating.

In 2025 the port handled about 2.7 million US-bound personal vehicles, 581,000 pedestrians and 447,000 trucks (port-level BTS counts). January led for cars; trucks peaked in March.
